Autodesk Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of VRED Products 2023.1.0 is an visualization software enables automotive designers and engineers to create product presentations, design reviews, and virtual prototypes with highly realistic materials, physical camera settings, engineering tools, and even surface analysis modes.

What’s new in VRED 2023.0 Design and Professional
Reworked Material Editor
The new decoupled Material Editor provides full Python API access, together with improved efficiency and usability that was previously unavailable. You can now select multiple materials to make changes, have a better view of complex materials, and navigate through with more flexibility.
Material filtering and representation
Get better support for Substance materials. A powerful filtering mechanism gives more flexibility and a better overview. The updated Material Editor also includes different geometric representations of material and corrected texture tilling.
VR and performance improvements
Take advantage of dramatically improved performance when starting ray tracing and a more natural immersive experience when working with pointers and other objects.
What’s new in VRED 2023.1

2023.1 Highlights and General Improvements
In VRED 2023.1, we have implemented several new features that increase your visual quality and workflows.
Within the new Material Editor, we added a new option for the Plastic material. Now you can add an additional clearcoat layer. You can adjust several parameters like the thickness, color, or density of the clearcoat. With this new option, you can create, for example, a textured material with a layered clearcoat on top of it. And with the new decoupled Material Editor, you can also set a clearcoat for multiple Plastic materials at once.
We also added the support for the so-called LTC area lights (Linear Transformed Cosines). These lights work for Open GL and precomputed modes and give you a much closer look to a Full GI rendered result. The changes affect only area lights in Open GL and don’t affect the raytracing mode. They calculate the behavior of glossy reflections with less noise. You can clearly see the difference of the old and new behavior. This will massively increase your visual quality for real-time visualization. Also, the Visible in Reflections option is now working the same in OpenGL and Raytracing mode!
Also, for open GL, we now support render layers. So, you can disable for example Visible in Alpha. This is not only a nice to have render feature, this can be very helpful for augmented reality, for example. Now you can easily make objects invisible and map a part of the virtual car onto a physical object for instance.
For all users of the Varjo XR3 AR headset, we added a static Marker option. In augmented reality mode, we can add markers to track the virtual model, and now you can change the tracking method from predicted, which is the old behavior, which constantly tracks the object, to a static mode, where the tracking is not done constantly. This will keep your object more static on the ground.
You can trigger the new modes using the new Python commands. Now, you just need to add them within the script area of a variant set and you can trigger it from there within the VR menu. If you want to use these scripts, just go to the documentation or find them in the Comment area of the YouTube channel.
Autodesk VRED (that’s Virtual Reality Editor)covers advanced visualisation, rendering and design review. VRED is a visualisation system, but it’s one that combines the progressive, physically based rendering available in other systems (such as KeyShot or V-Ray) with a set of tools to allow you to bake those visualisation properties (materials, textures, lightings, shadows and so on) into highly efficient datasets that support design review, collaboration, large-scale visualisation and increasingly, virtual reality.
VRED Professionalis an innovative and powerful software solutionfor 3D visualization with a superior quality. Fitted with physical camera and material and light settings, based on plastic, metal, coal or fabric physical features, VRED Professional allows users to create visual phototrrealistic fixes. The higher quality that you can achieve straight from VRED Professional, reduces significantly post-production costs.
Use theAsset Manager in VREDto manage items like scenes, environments, and materials across multiple projects. Each tab contains the assets and location of those assets for that category. Global assets stored anywhere in the network can be accessed as from a local folder. This supports standardization throughout several projects or even across multiple departments within the company.
VRED Designenables users to create compelling imagery and animations for exploring, presenting, and communicating design ideas for efficient decision making and for further general communications. Teams can benefit from real-time design reviews, interactive aspects for design selection, and tools for exploring alternatives (material variations, shape, look, etc.).
VRED 2023 What’s New
The new 2023 version includes now a completely reworked Material Editor. It is decoupled now and all properties are accessible via the Python API, which is very helpful for automation or for using VRED Core for example.
Autodeskhelps people imagine, design and create a better world. Everyone-from design professionals, engineers and architects to digital artists, students and hobbyists-uses Autodesk software to unlock their creativity and solve important challenges.
