Substance Painter, a tool for texturing 3D models, aimed at developers of next-generation games. The program allows you to quickly create lightweight, ready-to-use textures using an “intuitive interface” – and simply speaking, “outlining” the texture model, just as it is done, for example, in Mari.
Substance Painter allows you to literally “outline” models with textures, similar to how it is implemented in packages Mari and BodyPaint 3D. Among the curious functions is the ability to modify the UV-scan as you like; Each brush stroke is saved in the form of an editable curve, so that its shape can be corrected even post factum. The most interesting feature, perhaps, is a system of particle-based brushes (this technology was developed by the company Popcorn FX). Such brushes allow creating a wide range of procedural texture effects – dirt, cracks, rust, traces from collisions, etc.
