Cartoon Animator 4 (formerly known as CrazyTalk Animator) is a 2D animation software designed for both ability of entry and productivity. You can turn images to animated characters, control characters with your expressions, generate lipsync animation from audio, accomplish 3d parallax scenes, produce 2D visual effects, access content resources, and wield a comprehensive photoshop pipeline to rapidly customize characters and create content.

All New in Cartoon Animator 4:

ENHANCED CHARACTER ANIMATION
This WIP 1 demonstrates how Reallusion made 2D Character Animation more precise, powerful, yet more intuitive. Say goodbye to foot sliding, sinking or floating problems, the new Smart IK/FK system not only switches automatically, it makes creating amazing cartoon animation so much easier. Posing with locking end effectors gives you power to precisely animate characters with scene interaction. In addition, you can perfectly adapt motion files with different body shapes from our motion library, even fine-tune the character’s stride or alter its motion genre.

Smart IK (Inverse Kinematic)
Simple and functional design sets Cartoon Animator apart from other 2D Animation tools. The intuitive 2D in IK / FK system auto-switches invisibly so character posing for animation is a fluid, and logical process. Just lock the character feet to have perfect non-sliding foot contact, and lock the characters hand to get a precise interaction with props or scene.

Easy IK Editing
– Stretches, squatting, and hip rotation made simple by moving the hip bone.
– Easy-locking feet and hands for unlimited motion possibilities.
– Position character end effectors for precise IK interaction.
– Keep or Flip Joint Bend Direction during animation editing.

Intuitive Auto IK/FK Switch
– Drag-and-move end effectors for IK editing, directly rotate joins for FK editing.
– Intuitive pose-to-pose editing without switching IK and FK modes.
– One transform timeline track can keep End Effector Constraints and its Effective Range.
– Set keys only to Selected Body Parts, or to Full Body motion layers.

Stretch Animation
– Freely extend any characters end segments – head, hands and feet.
– Rubber-band stretch midpoint segments like elbow, waist, knee.
– After releasing stretching, the segment can resume to its original length.
– Stretch neck and torso parts by locking hands and feet.
– Smoothly interpolate stretch animation, and add Motion Curve for timing control.

Precise Scene and Prop Interaction
– Lock hands and feet to precisely interact with scene objects.
– IK Constraints – use Keep End Effort Rotation to tip toe or bend wrist, or use Keep End Effector Angle to sustain feet angle on the skateboard or bicycle pedal.
– Use Keep Bend Direction to ensure characters elbow or knee always bend at the right direction.
– Lock hand and feet to make stable spider-like crawling movement.

Works with All Kinds of Cartoon Characters
– Correct backward knee bend animation for quadruped animals.
– Use Shift+drag to alter the bone length between two bone segments producing a uniform transform effect such as the gorilla arm movement.
– The same effect can apply to breathing or neck-stretching animation.
– Use End Effector Rotation to easily let the dog naturally sit down.

Smart Motion Retargeting
Unique animation feature translates motions automatically to various character styles with different body scale. Smart Motion Retargeting correctly applies the collected motion files to different body shapes, automatically aligns characters to the motions pose regardless its initial pose settings, innovatively creates different motion performance styles.

Adapt Motions to any Character Scale
– No more Foot Sliding, Sinking, or Floating problems caused by character bone scale difference.
– Library Animation applied perfectly to all types of template characters.
– Works with all Template-based Motion – human biped, quadruped, wings, spine bone.

Creative IK Motion Varieties

Release Notes:
1)Import 3D Motion (3D Motion Convertor)
In v4.4, Cartoon Animator extends its compatibility to 3D Motion (.rlMotion, .iMotion). Which means 3D motion can now be imported and projected to 2D characters. Moreover, with 3D Motion Converter in Cartoon Animator, you have additional options for customization, such as the ability to project different angles and select specific ranges in the 3D motion for transfer.

2)G3 character supports .rlmotion and .imotion
Reallusion has reached a major breakthrough, with the ability to support 3D motion data (.rlMotion and .iMotion) for G3 characters in Cartoon Animator. This unlocks several possibilities for G3 characters to perform realistic animation. Moreover, with more than 3,000 3D motion content available in the Reallusion online stores, the possibilities are endless for animating 2D characters in multiple viewing angles, for a variety of scenarios.

3)New Embedded Content added in Content Library
In order to fully experience the benefit of applying 3D motion to 2D animation, Reallusion provides the following content along with the relevant software for exploration:

3D Motion Contents (.rlMotion, .iMotion) 8 sets of 3D motion are provided, including 2 poses, 1 dance motion, 2 idle motions and 3 walking motions. All motions are applicable to characters with multiple angles – front, side, and quarter-view.

4)Cartoon Animator Motion Link Plugin for iClone
In v.4.4, Reallusion introduces Motion Link, a plugin designed for iClone. It links between iClone and Cartoon Animator for real-time 3D motion creation and editing that directly projects to the 2D character. iClone as a powerful 3D animation tool allows users to create high-quality and lifelike motions, and with motion link, you can synchronize any 3D editing result to Cartoon Animator real-time. Users can real-time preview 2D animation with 3D motion editing in iClone, fine-tune the animation with customizable projection angles, and record the editing process to ensure the best animation quality. Motion link not only offers a revolutionary solution to expedite motion editing workflow for 2D animation but also unlock endless potential for motion creation.

5)Flip Body
In the past, when users applied motion capture with Motion Live 2D, the character was not able to move back to the initial starting position. In v.4.4, Reallusion optimizes the body animation with ""Flip Body” function. By enabling the ""Flip Body ” function in the mocap process , the mo-capped 2D character will flip the body automatically when the mocap actor turns around. Therefore, the facing direction of the character is aligned with real-life motion, saving the trouble of post-editing the animation to fit the scene. This feature also makes for a more flexible and intuitive way to animate with motion capture.

6)Z-Axis
Z- Axis is a helpful tool newly added in CTA that creates a spatial and depth effect for 2D animation. Users can enable this tool when applying 3D motion capture. It changes the scale of the object/character when moving it forward or backward. This way, users can use the camera perspective to represent three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface, which makes the animation look more natural and realistic.

7)Set Project Start/End Frame Markers
In v.4.4, Reallusion adds the Start/ End marker button in the toolbar, allowing you to simply click on the button to set start and end frame to customize the export range. This enhanced feature continuously preview your animation loop.
