The Autodesk development team is pleased to announce the availability of Maya 2019.3. The focus of 2019 release is performance, performance and performance. Animation caching improvements increase animation preview performance by up to 3x, Viewport 2.0 improvements help performance across the board.
What’s New?
Vertically split the Outliner
By default, you can drag a horizontal splitter bar at the bottom of the Outliner window to create a split panel and view a second copy of the Outliner within the same window. You can now choose between using a horizontal or a vertical splitter bar, using the new Window Layout option in the Outliner Display menu. You can also right-click to access these options from a pop-up menu in the Outliner. MAYA-103451
Create sets easily with updated Outliner contextual menu
You can now create sets and quick select sets from objects, as well as create partitions, using the new Sets sub-menu in the Outliner contextual menu. Select one or more objects, right-click in the Outliner and select Sets, then choose from menu items that create sets or edit their membership. You can also automatically select set members when you select a set. To enable this behavior by default, enable Auto-select set members in the Outliner in the Preferences window, under the Selection > Modifiers category. MAYA-103453
Reserve unloaded namespaces
When creating a reference or opening a file that contains references, you can now choose to create the namespace of the reference even if you do not load the reference itself. Simply enable the new Reserve unloaded namespaces option when you select File > Open or File > Create Reference.
This prevents the namespace from being used inadvertently for other nodes and references, which caused conflicts if the original reference was eventually loaded. MAYA-103504

Maya devkit
The MTypeID for the RenderOverrideOptions class in the pyGroundReflectionRenderer.py example has been changed. Only use the version of this example packaged with the Maya devkit; do not copy and paste the version documented in the Python reference in the Maya Developer Help. If you created a scene in a previous Maya version using this example, the binary scene file will not open in this version of Maya. You will need to save the scene as an ASCII file in the earlier version, then open the ASCII scene file in this current version.

UV Editing: Unfold3D Process Error
– Many users on systems with newer, high-end CPUs like Ryzen 3900x series have reported issues and ‘Unfold3D Process Error’ messages when unwrapping or optimizing UVs. If you run Maya using one of these high performance CPUs, you can now set the environment variable MAYA_USE_ALTERNATE_UNFOLD_SHIM = 1 to use the Unfold3D tools. MAYA-103288
– GPU Override hasAttributeBeenModified now evaluates correctly
– MPxGPUDeformer::hasAttributeBeenModified() will now return true for interactively modified attributes until evaluation of the current frame completes, similar to the behavior of hasAttributeBeenModified() for animated attributes. This improves cases where multiple elements of the aInput and aOutputGeom multi attributes are used in a GPU Override supported deformer. MAYA-100962

– Fast animation – Cached Playback gives animators serious speed improvements in the playback of animation in the viewport. You’re going to have more fun animating and waste a lot less time waiting for Playblasts.
